Betsy
1969 Dodge Dart
I got the Dart as my first car when I was 15 years old and my dad and I had several things do before it was road worthy. I drove it throughout high school in the original condition and this is when just a car became known as Betsy. Years later I removed and sold the motor and I'm sad to say Betsy didn't see the outside of a garage for 6 or 7 years. After 11 years of employment, I was laid off in 2009 and found myself with time, and a decision, on my hands. While I was trying to decide where I wanted to go career wise, I started Betsy's restoration process. I knew that no matter where my career went, I would always do something related to my love of, and skill with, automobiles. Raynor Shine Auto Works was born and began with the auto and boat detailing services we offer today. While getting the business off the ground, I continued working with Betsy. In the middle of all the body work, sanding, priming and painting I realized that not only was I good at this, but I loved doing this! This led to my decision to return to school. I decided that Raynor Shine Auto Works would expand, to eventually include the same type of restorative body work that was bringing Betsy back to life. I enrolled in Wayne Community College and graduated with a degree of Associate in Applied Science Collision Repair and Refinishing Technology. I also hold certificates in Autobody Non-Structural Repair, Autobody Refinishing, and Autobody Structural Repair. It took 3 years to complete Betsy's makeover and she looks better than ever!
